The World's Best Turkey Burgers

Ok, so that’s just what our family thinks. The key is to start with really good turkey burger! The cheese makes for a nice gooey surprise. Barb L.

Makes: 4 medium-sized burgers

1 lb turkey burger (We only use Jennie-O turkey burger after experimenting with many kinds)

¼- ½ tsp garlic powder, depending on how much you like garlic, optional

¼ cup unflavored, homemade if possible, bread crumbs

½ tsp Italian seasonings (We like McCormick’s Italian spice grinder)

Salt and pepper, if desired

4- 1” cubes of your favorite cheese

½ Tbsp of Flying Olive Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or your favorite Flying Olive EVOO

Whole wheat buns, tomato slices, lettuce, etc

Mix the turkey burger, garlic powder, bread crumbs, Italian seasonings, and salt and pepper together in a large bowl. Mix together (we use our ultra-clean hands).

Heat the grill or grill pan to medium-high.

Divide the mixture into four equal parts. Form into 4 balls. Divide each ball into two pieces. Flatten one of each piece. Pat around the edges so they are round, like a hamburger patty. Press your thumb in the center of the first piece. Place the cheese chunk into it.

Lay the burger half and cheese on a plate. Form the other ½ of the burger and place on top of the half with the cheese. Press the halves together andpress the edges together so that the cheese chunk is inside and the edges are well sealed. Repeat with the remaining 3 balls of turkey burger.

Using a pastry brush, brush a little Flying Olive Extra Virgin Olive Oil on the top and bottom of each burger. Place on the grill or a grilling sheet. Cook for 2 minutes on each side. Turn the grill down to medium and continue cooking until done, about 4-6 additional minutes. Remove from the grill and keep warm covered with a piece of loose aluminum foil. Add bun and condiments and enjoy!
