This is a quick and easy homemade barbeque sauce. We particularly like it as we can add or leave out whatever we want such as salt and sugar!
Use it on chicken, pork, or steak. (The photo shows it on grilled chicken.) Barb L.
Yield: About 1 1/3 cups
6-ounce can basil-garlic flavored tomato paste (or a 6-ounce can of tomato paste mixed with a tsp of Simple Basil Pesto)
2/3 cup Flying Olive Balsamic Vinegar such as Traditional 18 Year, Denissimo, an Aged Balsamic of Choice, or Neapolitan Herb (Fell free to experiment with other flavors such as Fig, Blackberry Ginger, Blueberry, Dark Raspberry, or Strawberry) (Our favorite combo is 1/3 Neapolitan + 1/3 18 Year Traditionalor Denissimo)
2 Tbsp Flying Olive Garlic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tbsp Flying Olive Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp sugar or sugar substitute
1½ tsp salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
In a small bowl, make the sauce by whisking together the Flying Olive Balsamic Vinegar(s) of Choice. and Olive Oils. Add the garlic, sugar, salt, and pepper, while continuing to whisk. Brush on meat before grilling or microwave for 30 seconds to use when serving.
